Estimated at bringing over $150 million to the island economy each year, Bahamian lawmakers have placed great importance on their interest in this precious resource. Regulations for fly fishing in the Bahamas have recently changed, affecting the many thousands of visitors traveling to the Bahamas this year. They include changes that make all inshore gamefish catch and release-only for visitors and require all anglers to pay a $20 fishing license fee. All anglers fishing from a skiff or boat are now required to hire a guide. Proceeds will be used to support the conservation and protection of the fishery, better managing it for the many fishermen that come to these waters in search of good fishing opportunities. Otherwise, the Bahamas is still a very user-friendly destination for tourists wanting to visit this wonderful nation of tropical islands. Nassau has a major International Airport with airlines flying to the island regularly from many destinations along the east coast of the US, as well as some direct flights to select out-island destinations too.
